File:Une fusée à Esrange.jpg rocket identification

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for uploading that picture of sounding rocket at Esrange. It looks like Black Brant with Terrier or Nike booster. Have you, by chance, looked at the information sign in the front of it? What did it say? Trasheater Midir (talk) 10:38, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Trasheater Midir. I will soon look among my pictures to see if I took a picture of the sign, but I am pretty sure I didn't. And I am now too far to take a look at it again. But maybe could we find some information on the SSC Swedish Space Corporation website?
And, I don't know, I don't really participate to the Commons community, but maybe there is some local user group we could ask if someone could take a look. Otherwise, I can also try to contact SSC to ask them. We could also see if the other people who contributed to the Esrange category do know.

hi

[edit]

Hi Wikisquack, I uploaded Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Scanning electron micrograph of a human H9 T cell infected with HIV virus particles.jpg and it already qualifies for the Mon 21 Oct → Sat 26 Oct (5 day nomination) it has 14 supports...I was wondering if you would consider changing your vote in light of this ...(whatever you decide I want to thank you for your time and participation), Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 11:43, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ozzie10aaaa
After reflection, I decided to change my vote to  Neutral because opposing won't change anything, but I still am quite disappointed about the cropping :(... Anyways, have a good day!

Ovals

[edit]

Hi there. I think you were the one who suggested "ovals" for this month's photo contest. I can't ever remember so many high-quality photos for a monthly theme. Good suggestion! Magnolia677 (talk) 16:06, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Magnolia677
Thank you! I am really sad that I couldn't find the time to contribute by myself but I sure will vote and take a look at these pictures. But to be fair enough, I think that all challenges always come with super quality pictures. So if you say so, I should really go and see these photos as soon as possible. Wikisquack (talk) 16:18, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Two photos (on my talk page) come in third several years ago, but I keep entering every month. Nice chatting. Cheers! Magnolia677 (talk) 17:45, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2024 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2024) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.
