{"id":25987,"date":"2024-03-07T07:00:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T12:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.construction.com\/?p=25987"},"modified":"2025-10-08T03:26:32","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T07:26:32","slug":"dodgefebruarydmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.construction.com\/dodge-momentum-index\/dodgefebruarydmi\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodge Momentum Index Recedes 1% in February"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_small\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p><em>Commercial planning bears the brunt of this month\u2019s decline<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>BEDFORD, M.A. \u2013 March 7, 2024 <\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong> The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI), issued by <a href=\"http:\/\/construction.com\/\">Dodge<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.construction.com\/\">Construction Network<\/a>, fell 1.4% in February to 180.5 (2000=100) from the revised January reading of 183.0. Over the month, commercial planning fell 2.3% and institutional planning ticked up 0.1%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeaker office and healthcare planning constrained nonresidential planning in February,\u201d stated Sarah Martin, associate director of forecasting for Dodge. \u201cHowever, the Index remains 25% higher than where it was just two years ago. Most other categories showed growth over the month and Dodge remains optimistic that nonresidential planning will stay elevated throughout 2024 alongside rising confidence in 2025 market conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Slower growth in office planning pulled down the commercial portion of the Index this month. On the institutional side, slower healthcare and amusement planning was offset by stronger education planning, keeping this portion of the DMI flat in February. Year over year, the DMI was 1% higher than in February 2023. The commercial segment was down 10% from year-ago levels, while the institutional segment was up 27% over the same period.<\/p>\n<p>In February, a total of 17 projects valued at $100 million or more entered planning. The largest commercial projects included the $220 million QTS Data Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and the $150 million DOT Transit Maintenance Facility in Boulder, Colorado.
